JAKARTA--Burson-Marsteller has named Mayang Schreiber as its new Indonesia chief executive and market leader, following the departure of previous country head Daisy Primavanti.

Schreiber joins the firm from IndoPacific Edelman where se was VP, overseeing corporate, technology and healthcare.

“Mayang is one of the foremost Indonesians in the world of public relations, and we are delighted that she will be taking our team to the next level in one of Asia’s most exciting economies,” said B-M regional CEO Bob Pickard, to whom Schreiber reports. “Our objective is to be the premier international communications firm in Indonesia and we look forward to accelerating our business momentum in this strategically important country.”

The hire comes amid sustained growth in the Indonesian public relations market. “Indonesia is such a dynamic emerging market, traditional approaches to communications are no longer enough to meet the challenge of rapid economic growth within a constantly changing commercial context,” said Schreiber.

Prior to joining IndoPacific Edelman in early 2009, Schreiber worked at Rowland Australia. She has also worked at Roche Indonesia, and as a PR consultant in London.
