LONDON — Confectioner The Serious Sweets Company has appointed Boldspace on a brand-building brief for its gourmet marshmallow brand Mallow & Marsh, which it acquired earlier this year.

Mallow & Marsh produces marshmallow bites and bars which are stocked by supermarkets and grocery retailers including Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Waitrose and Ocado. The brand has previously worked with agencies including Amp London.

The Serious Sweet Company, which specialises in own-brand and branded classic British confectionery including fudge, toffee, butterscotch and honeycomb, has so far acquired three specialist confectionery businesses this year, including Mallow & Marsh, founded in 2013.

Managing director Rob Whitehead said: “From the outset, we were impressed with Boldspace’s credentials in this sector and their ideas for Mallow & Marsh certainly did not disappoint. We are looking forward to working with the team to bring these to life, making Mallow & Marsh the category leader it deserves to be.”

Boldspace senior strategy director Adam Larter added: “Mallow & Marsh is entering an incredibly exciting stage of their business. With widespread distribution and a loyal fanbase, we are incredibly excited to work with this iconic and delicious brand.”

Mallow & Marsh is the latest addition to Boldspace’s food and drink client roster, including brand strategy, advertising and brand reputation clients for TGI Fridays and Greek dairy brand Dodoni. Recent hires into the team to support this growth include Eloïse Liddell, who joined as account director from global advertising giant Grey.
