CHICAGO — Current Global’s Amy Colton has been promoted to the agency’s president of North America.

Colton steps into the newly created role after 13 years with Current Global and its predecessor Current Marketing.

She has been the firm’s general manager of North America since 2019, when IPG merged US-based Current Marketing and Weber Shandwick unit Creation into a new entity, Current Global. Before then, she was part of Current’s leadership team as an executive VP.

In the new role, Colton will retain her responsibilities recruiting and developing talent, as well as growing client relationships. She is also charged with bolstering the agency’s reputation and achieving financial targets.

“Over the past 12 months, Amy’s leadership skills have been on full display as we navigated one of the most difficult periods for all of us, both professionally and personally,” said CEO Virginia Devlin. “With empathy, honesty and resiliency, she helped Current Global adapt to remote work, counsel clients through the pandemic and social unrest, revisit the kind of workplace we want to be, and take care of each other in big and small ways. All of that while still delivering a strong year of financial growth.”
