NEW YORK — BCW has tapped Deb Freeman to serve as its North America chief strategy officer.

New York-based Freeman brings to the role 20-plus years of experience in creating and transforming brands, having worked with the likes of Ulta Beauty, McDonald’s, USTA and Clorox. Her expertise includes brand purpose, social, experiential, activation, content, new product development and innovation.

For the last four years, Freeman has run her own consultancy, Move Consulting, where she counseled ad agencies including McCann New York and Saatchi & Saatchi in addition to brands. Before that she spent two years as chief strategy officer at FCB New York.  She also spent 11 years with Grey New York, ultimately serving as co-head of strategy.

Freeman replaces Thomas Bunn, who departed BCW in September to join Zeno as global head of planning.

“Deb is a real find; she has incredible experience pairing deep human insights with data, technology and creativity to position both new and existing brands for success,” said Brooke Hovey, BCW’s North America president and global chief growth officer, to whom Freeman reports. “She has counseled so many iconic brands across a variety of industries, and worked closely with brand, social and data strategists and creative teams to bring great ideas to life. I’m excited for the impact she will make for our clients.”
