LONDON — Dentons Global Advisors (DGA), which was set up this summer with a minority stake from Dentons, the world’s biggest law firm, has hired three new partners from leading strategic communications firms.
Ryan Toohey (pictured, left) will be based in the New York office, joining the senior team led by head of New York Adam Cubbage, who was previously a managing director at FTI.
Toohey joins from Edelman, where he had been managing director and head of crisis communications for the past year. He was previously at FTI for nearly a decade, leading the crisis and issues practice within the Strategic Consulting business for the Americas. He specialises in providing strategic counsel to companies and executives facing complex communications, government relations and regulatory challenges.
Humza Vanderman and Yim Wong will be based in the London office, joining the senior team led by Deborah Scott, DGA’s head of Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Vanderman (pictured, right), previously spent 11 years at Finsbury Glover Hering, latterly as a managing director based in London after a posting in Singapore from 2014 to 2016. He has experience working on high-profile, complex corporate situations, including global M&A, public-to-private transitions, IPOs, restructurings, cyber breaches, regulatory matters and sensitive legal issues.
Wong, (pictured, centre) joins the advisory firm from Milltown Partners, where she was chief digital officer and partner. She was previously a partner and head of digital at Finsbey for 13 years. Wong specialises in developing and implementing digital strategies for brands going through change, and works across creative communications, capital markets communications, corporate reputation and crisis management.
The appointments follow the launch of Dentons Global Advisors in June 2021. It bought public affairs consultancy Albright Stonebridge Group at start-up, and acquired European public affairs firm Interel in July. The firm already has a team of more than 230 across 10 offices in eight countries.
CEO Edward Reilly said: “We are delighted to welcome Ryan, Humza and Yim, three extraordinarily accomplished and world-class advisors, to our growing team at Dentons Global Advisors. Individually and collectively, they bring significant leadership experience, deep expertise, and a keen understanding of the burgeoning issues and opportunities that confront corporates. I’m confident each will prove enormously valuable to our clients.”
