BEIJING — Edelman has promoted Mark Wang to China CEO, one year after Jeffrey Yu relinquished his role as president of Edelman China.

Wang, who is currently Beijing MD, adds oversight of the firm's three other mainland offices — Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

In addition, Shanghai MD Melinda Po takes on an additional role as chief growth officer for Edelman China, leading the firm's China brand hub which consolidates specialist resources across brand, strategy, creative, digital and PR communications.

Wang joined Edelman from Ogilvy in late 2017, where he spent two years after a series of in-house roles at HP, Lenovo and Dell. Po also arrived from Ogilvy, the following year. The elevations come after China was singled out as one of Edelman's strongest 2019 growth markets

"Mark is an outstanding leader and has driven double digit growth leading our Beijing office over the last two years since he joined Edelman," said Edelman Asia-Pacific CEO Stephen Kehoe. "With his years of experience on the client side managing large-scale businesses, marketing and communications functions, he brings a unique perspective on how to understand and tackle client business challenges."

In addition, Kehoe noted that Po had "dramatically reshaped our integrated communications capabilities."

"She has hired key talent and through differentiated work, earned the trust of marketeers that traditionally may not have thought of Edelman," he said.
