PARIS — Jean Bizet, a former French senator and chairman of the European Affairs Committee, has joined APCO Worldwide as a special advisor in Paris.

Bizet has nearly 25 years’ experience as a member of the French Senate and has worked on issues in a variety of sectors, including international trade, agri-food, biotechnologies and new technologies.

He is also the author of a number of reports on competition policy, the capital market and the Common Agricultural Policy, as well as co-chairing the Senate’s monitoring committee on the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union and the re-foundation of the European Union.

Arnaud Pochebonne, managing director of APCO’s Paris office, said: "I am delighted to welcome [Bizet] to APCO Worldwide. His extensive parliamentary experience and in-depth knowledge of many economic sectors will be a valuable asset and strengthen the counsel we provide for our clients.”

APCO Worldwide’s Europe president Claire Boussagol added: “Bizet is a long-term player in the construction of Europe and will be a valuable partner for our specialized teams around the world.”

Bizet said: “Throughout my time at the Senate, I developed an interest in different industries and, given the unprecedented context we are going through, I long reflected on the role I could play in supporting businesses and the economy. I now have the conviction that the best way to achieve this and to make myself useful is to support companies directly.”
