BRUSSELS--The European Commission has finalised almost €100m worth of new communications contracts, appointing a number of PR firms in the process.
Four agency consortia have been selected to the EC's four-year €80m 'framework' roster, which is overseen by the Directorate-General for Communications. The roster is designed to support EC departments with the development and implementation of information and communication campaigns.
The quartet, chosen from a field of six applicants, are also charged with monitoring and measuring the impact of these campaigns, and providing a range of services, including editorial, graphics, audio-visual and event support.
The four consortia are, COM27, lead by JWT; Brussels comms consultancy Mostra; Euro RSCG/Havas Media in France; and, Germany's Media Consulta.
Separately, the EC department that oversees employment, social affairs and inclusion has concluded a tender for its two-year €14m public relations contract, which attracted proposals from seven firms.
The body has appointed Brussels firm Tipik to support communication of some of the EC's key policy pillars - employment strategy; the free movement of workers and coordination of social security systems; common minimum standards in the workplace; and, combating poverty and social exclusion.
Earlier this year, the EC’s Directorate-General for Enterprise and Industry hired four agency consortia to oversee its €40m comms assignment.
