BALTIMORE — SKDKnickerbocker managing director Kelley McCormick will be joining Under Armour as its first senior VP of corporate communications — the latest move by the athletic wear company to build an in-house team in line with its global scale.

McCormick, who starts in January, will work closely with Diane Pelkey who, as senior VP of global communications and entertainment, has handled most of the company’s in-house communications responsibilities for roughly a decade.

Once McCormick comes onboard, and starts handling the corporate communications side of the business, Pelkey will narrow her focus on bolstering Under Armour’s global brands as its senior VP of brand communications and events, she said.

McCormick is Under Armour's second communications leadership hire this year. In August, Dean Stoyer, a former Nike staffer,  joined as VP of brand communications.

Growing the department is in keeping with Under Armour's larger effort underway to expand its leadership across departments to keep pace with its global reach, Pelkey said. Earlier this week, the company company announced that it hired Massimo Baratto as VP and managing director of European business.
