CARDIFF — Lynn Group has appointed Sophie Howe as its first global strategic partner to help clients navigate the global societal, environmental and economic changes and challenges that affect their business.

Howe (pictured, left), a former special advisor, was the world’s first Future Generations Commissioner, appointed by the Welsh government in 2016 on a seven-year term to ensure the voice of future generations is heard in political debate and policy development.

In her new role, Howe will work with founder & CEO Shayoni Lynn (pictured, right) and the Lynn Group board, providing strategic counsel to clients in line with the firm’s purpose, to “improve and save lives”, including helping companies and public sector organisations to meet environmental targets as well as commercial, economic and financial goals while achieving their social, reputational and cultural objectives.

Both Howe and Lynn have a particular belief in the importance of increasing evidence-based working, improving data literacy and helping organisations fight back against disinformation, which has the potential to significantly harm innovative and effective policies geared to successfully deliver on net zero targets.

Howe told PRovoke Media: “Everything I’ve been trying to achieve is about policy shift: how do we convince public and politicians to understand the need for change, and how to position change in best way, from climate crisis action to rethinking our education and healthcare systems. We can only achieve those things by proper behavioural-led science and there has a been a significant gap in using those approaches in public policy. There have been so many things we could have applied Lynn’s approach to.

“What we did in the past will not continue to work in the future. Policy makers, business leaders, organisations and brands must become insight-led communicators, leading the field in behaviourally informed, evidence based messaging. It is only then that real-world positive outcomes become possible.

And she added: “I’m excited to join Lynn – I’m a Welsh girl like Shayoni and they are a fast-growing Welsh company. I can’t wait to see how I can apply my Future Generations work to what they are doing, and to bring their skills in behavioural insights and action on disinformation to the attention of policymakers and those trying to drive change in the UK and globally, as they prepare for the world ahead.”

Of the appointment, Lynn said: “Leaders like Sophie are rare; a trailblazer with vision, courage and tenacity. Sophie has profoundly changed the future of Wales for the better. I am thrilled that she is joining Lynn as global strategic partner, bringing with her a wealth of experience and recognition that behavioural science informed communications, free of both disinformation and misinformation, should top the global agenda for every key decision maker, both in the public and private sectors.”
