NEW DELHI — Indian ride-hailing leader Ola is reshaping its public relations leadership, hiring Carson Dalton and Viraj Chouhan to oversee community relations and communications, respectively.

Dalton (pictured) arrives as community relations director after spending more than four years with Facebook India, where he was head of communications. In his newly-created role at Ola, he reports to Ola founding partner Pranay Jivrajka and will oversee key stakeholder engagement, including partnerships focused on strategic priorities such as electric vehicles.

Chouhan, meanwhile, was unveiled as the company's new chief communications officer earlier this week, after serving most recently as executive director of corporate communications at MTS India.

Chouhan reports to Ola co-founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal and takes over a function that was previously led by senior PR and marketing communications director Anand Subramanian, who is moving into a new role.

Both Dalton and Chouhan will remain based in Gurgaon. Prior to joining MTS, Chouhan  headed the brand public relations function within the corporate communications team of Coca-Cola India and South West Asia across multi-country business units for all the beverage brands.

Dalton, meanwhile, joined Facebook in 2013 after leading BT's Asia-Pacific corporate communications function in Singapore.

The hires come as Ola shakes up its communications approach, bringing in MSL to handle PR duties amid fierce competition with Uber for leadership of the country's $10bn ride-hailing industry.
