LONDON — Pagefield has won a brief to provide strategic communications and PR support for medical cannabis company, Grow Group, a leading distributor in the UK and Ireland.

The agency is advising Grow on its communications strategy and delivering an integrated communications campaign for its crowdfunding campaign on Seedr, which has so far raised nearly £3.6 million from 693 investors, beating its £3.2 million target. The firm was founded by former JP Morgan investment banker Ben Langley, one of the first in the UK to invest in medicinal cannabis.

The medical cannabis sector is tipped for significant growth, with medicines being prescribed for conditions such as epilepsy, insomnia and chronic pain. In Europe alone the sector is now worth around $1 billion and is expected to be worth over $3 billion by 2025, according to research firm Brightfield Group.

Pagefield is targeting the medical cannabis sector as part of a strategy to expand into new and emerging areas, led by partner David Leslie, a corporate communications expert with more than a decade’s experience handling media and political campaigns.

The agency is also moving into the e-mobility sector, working with sports events company Cube International, helping to launch the world’s first city E-bike Grand Prix, EBK GP. The event aims to introduce a new sport while making a difference to sustainable mobility in host cities.

Pagefield’s initial brief from Cube is to shape the EBK GP brand for external audiences and developing its communications strategy. Pagefield partner Rebecca Lury is leading the account.

Expanding on its financial services portfolio, the agency is also working with independent alternative asset manager Investbridge Capital, which itself invests in emerging growth markets and is regulated in Dubai and the UK. The account, led by partner Katharine Spence, will see Pagefield support the company in building its corporate narrative, helping to develop the brand as it looks to expand its presence in the UK.

Pagefield chief executive Oliver Foster told PRovoke Media: “Pagefield has always been broad-ranging in the work we deliver and the sectors we operate in. Grow, Cube International and Investbridge Capital are three great – and very different – examples of us taking on clients with incredibly ambitious growth plans. These growth plans require the combination of a hard-working strategic communications team, as well as a ‘critical friend’.”
