Brian Tyson will be honoured with the Individual Achievement SABRE Award on 27 September 2023, at the Asia-Pacific SABRE Awards in Singapore.

Tyson has led SEC Newgate's growth into one of Australia's biggest consultancies, thanks in large part to his renowned expertise across public affairs and issues management. As well as being managing partner of the Australian operation, he is also deputy chief executive of the SEC Newgate parent group at a global level.

In a consulting career spanning two decades, Tyson has come to be regarded as one of Australia’s leading communications practitioners with expertise in strategic issues management, financial transactions, government relations, media management and community campaigning.

Tyson co-founded Newgate in Australia in 2013, after previously leading Gavin Anderson in the country for almost two decades. Prior to his career in consultancy, Tyson was a political adviser to the Greiner Government in New South Wales. He has led several high profile and complex public affairs campaigns and financial transactions in the infrastructure, transport, banking, energy, agriculture, arts, media, and sports sectors.

"Brian is one of the smartest strategic communicators in the business, with an impeccable network across the private and public sector who regularly seek and trust his counsel on complex and challenging matters with reputational impact," said SEC Newgate research MD Sue Vercoe, who has worked with Tyson since 1995.

"He is a worthy but probably reluctant recipient of this award as he always points to the team around him across our communications, research and community engagement practices as the reason for SEC Newgate’s success. This is also what makes him a great leader."
