WASJINGTON, DC—Candace Bushnell, journalist and author of Sex and the City, The Carrie Diaries and more, has joined a growing roster of big-name speakers at the PRovoke Global Summit, which takes place in Washington, DC, from November 6-8.
Bushnell is the author of 10 books, including Is There Still Sex in the City, Sex and the City, Summer and the City, The Carrie Diaries, One Fifth Avenue, Lipstick Jungle, Trading Up, Killing Monica and Four Blondes. Sex and the City, published in 1996, was the basis for the HBO hit series and two subsequent movies. Lipstick Jungle became a popular television series on NBC, as did The Carrie Diaries on the CW.
At PRovoke, Bushnell will appear alongside Weber Shandwick global CEO Gail Heimann and Powell Tate senior advisor Ashley Etienne on a panel entitled “Pink is the new black,” which will explore how this summer’s blockbuster movie Barbie re-ignited the issue of gender equality and has upended “she-conomics”
Etienne, in addition to her role at Powell Tate, is a CBS News senior political contributor, former deputy assistant to President Joe Biden, communications director to Vice President Kamala Harris and, prior to that, communications director and senior advisor for Nancy Pelosi.
Heimann will moderate “a candid and likely spirited conversation” with Bushnell and Etienne that will celebrate Barbie, Taylor, Beyoncé, Carrie, women athletes and policymakers, pushing the audiece to consider what the world of marketing and communications can and must do to propel the “she-conomy” and keep the wave of Barbie Pink—and gender equality, above all—going.
Bushnell and Etienne join previously announced speakers such as Nicholas Thompson, CEO of The Atlantic, and Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author of eight books Rohit Bhargava, at this year’s event.
Tickets for this year’s PRovokeGlobal, which focuses on 'Action & Impact' can be reserved here. The Summit gets underway with the Entrepreneurs Forum on 6th November, before the two main Summit days on the 7th and 8th, culminating in the Global SABRE Awards on the evening of the final day.
