LAUSANNE — Burson Cohn & Wolfe’s sports practice in Switzerland has been appointed by new fan engagement platform Iqoniq to run its global communications.

Iqoniq will launch its app this August, targeting sports and entertainment fans with an online “fan club”, including tickets, merchandise and loyalty programmes, which it said offers “more personal, more rewarding and more purposeful experiences and engagements with their favourite star individuals and organisations.”

The company has already established partnerships with rights holders including AS Monaco, Olympique de Marseille and Euroleague basketball. The agency’s brief is to develop and implement a global communications strategy to attract new partners and fans.

Lars Haue-Pedersen, MD of the sport practice in Switzerland, said: “Iqoniq has made a lot of progress in establishing itself so far, and we look forward to providing additional support to ensure that its many great features, and overarching vision, are well-understood across the industry. We have been very impressed with the ambition shown and we look forward to supporting them in this exciting journey.”

Iqoniq was set up by entrepreneur Kazim Atilla, who said: “Iqoniq is a gamechanger in fan engagement, and the feedback we have received by leading sports clubs and leagues has been fantastic so far. Now, as we prepare to launch our application later this year, we are very happy to team up with BCW, whose experience in this field will be of great value to us. With these challenging times around us, we remain more convinced than ever that Iqoniq provides the all-in-one solution that so many fans are asking for.”
