NEW YORK — The Sway Effect has struck a partnership with China-focused Gold View PR, opening the door to the firm expanding its reach into Asia.

Gold View — launched in January by Helen Ye, previously Ogilvy’s global China practice leader — will help Sway Effect counsel companies on policy, risks and other issues related to doing business in China. The Sway Effect, meantime, will provide Gold View clients PR support including internal and external comms, media relations and event support.

Ye and Jennifer Risi, Sway’s founder and president, worked together at Ogilvy, where Risi served as chief communications officer. They said the effort is particularly opportune at the moment, given China’s hopes for economic recovery after three years of Covid lockdowns.

“Timing is right to launch the partnership now and more and more companies are seeking to reassess operation across both markets,” said Risi, who started Sway in 2019.

The launch comes roughly four months after China, having suffered a bruising 2022, started rolling back its strict Covid-prevention measures in December, The country’s service sector (which includes transport, information, investment and health care services, as well as arts, entertainment and recreation) and manufacturing business are  performing at decade high.
