SAN JOSE, CA — Tech giant Cisco has decided to keep its North America PR business with incumbent FleishmanHillard, PRovoke Media has learned.
PRovoke Media understands Cisco renewed its partnership with FH following an extensive review that started early last summer. The remit covers the full range of PR and comms responsibilities — corporate comms, digital and social media and public affairs among them, sources said.
The account is estimated to be worth upwards of $2 million. Neither Cisco nor FH responded to requests for comment.
The sweeping review came four-plus years after Cisco consolidated its global PR duties with FleishmanHillard. At that time, FH was hired to handle a range of communications areas that had been divided between three agencies as part of the networking giant’s push to modernize its approach to communications.
As agency of record for Cisco’s global corporate communications team, FH’s responsibilities have included technology and corporate PR as well as corporate social media. The duties FH absorbed at the start of 2019 previously belonged to Text100, which had handled Cisco’s product PR as its technology agency since 2007; Brunswick, which led corporate communications; and Golin, the conglomerate’s social media agency.
Maria Poveromo has led Cisco’s comms function since May 2021, when the then-international comms leader was promoted to chief communications officer, filling a role vacated when Stella Low left for Apple. Low departed Apple less than a year later.
