LONDON — Global sustainability group Anthesis has selected Fight or Flight as its first corporate communications agency, with a brief to raise awareness of its work across the US and UK business, technology and broadcast media.

Since it was set up in 2013, Anthesis has grown to 1,400 specialists across 23 countries helping clients transform their businesses in response to critical societal issues such as climate, nature, human rights, diversity and inclusion, and health.

Anthesis works with companies such as Nestlé, Tesco, Target, and Microsoft, in areas including science-based advisory, digital solutions, high-quality carbon removal projects, purpose consulting, strategy and communications.

The brief comes following a brand refresh in alignment to mark Anthesis’ 10th anniversary and its acquisitions this year of sustainability consultancy Given, sustainability reporting specialist BuzzWord and global purpose strategy firm Revolt. In July last year, investment firm Carlyle acquired a majority stake in Anthesis.

At Fight or Flight, the account will be led by senior director Tali Kramer (pictured, right), who joined at the end of 2023 from Instinctif Partners to spearhead the agency’s corporate reputation offering, supported by sustainability lead Rachael Bolton (left).

The duo will work closely with Anthesis group CMO Kirsten Doddy (pictured, centre), who said: “Following fast organic growth and significant M&A activity, Anthesis has assembled all the necessary skills to enable transformation, restoration, regulation, acceleration, and communication across an organisation's value chain. With this, now is the right time to turbo-charge our PR.

“The team at Fight or Flight really impressed us with their media relationships, storytelling, and sustainability experience. Their proactivity aligns with our own activator-led approach, and we're excited to partner with them at this pivotal time for Anthesis.”

Kramer added: “We can't wait to work with Kirsten and the team to tell Anthesis’ amazing story and how it guides its clients through some of the most complex issues. The impact it makes in shifting the world's leading companies from sustainable compliance to sustainable performance is inspiring.”

Fast-growing agency Fight or Flight, which was founded in 2020 by former Weber Shandwick tech leaders Joe Walton, David Woodward and Charlie Meredith-Hardy, grew by more than 30% last year to reach revenues in excess of £4.5 million in 2023. The 50-strong agency’s clients include AMEX GBT, LinkedIn, Expedia, Nokia, Sky and Trainline across its offices in London and New York.
