MILAN — Italian banking group Mediobanca has appointed a new head of group communications, after the departure of long-time communications leader Lorenza Pigozzi last year.

Stefano Tassone, who has worked for the bank since 2008, has been promoted into the role after holding a number of senior communications roles, including head of financial and corporate communications, and, since 2017, head of media relations and channel management.

In his new role, Tassone will report to CEO Alberto Nagel and will head up Mediobanca’s group communications division, with responsibility for media relations and channels management, brand communication and social media management, research and analysis, and the bank’s historical archive and cultural heritage division.

Pigozzi had been with the bank for 21 years, latterly as head of group communications and institutional relations. She left in November last year to join Fincantieri, one of the world’s largest shipbuilding groups, as head of communications and external relations.

In a statement announcing the new appointment, Mediobanca extended its thanks to Pigozzi for her years of work for the bank.
