LONDON — Renna Markson, the managing director of the Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) will be leaving the organisation in February after six years.

The announcement comes ahead of new CEO James Hewes taking up his post later this month, and after a year-long governance review at the PRCA.

Markson was promoted into the newly-created MD role in May last year, after the death of director general Francis Ingham last March. In a LinkedIn post, she said her departure to “explore new adventures” was “bittersweet”.

She added: “As I reflect on my time at this truly unique and special place, I feel lucky to have worked with some seriously talented, hardworking and committed people over the years. I’m really proud of what we achieved in championing the PR profession. A trade association is only as strong as its people and members – and we have the best combination. I feel privileged to have had the responsibility to represent this industry."

PRCA interim management board chair Ray Eglington said: “During her six years with us, Renna helped to build PRCA during a time of rapid growth, provided leadership and support to our industry during the pandemic, and provided the stability that the organisation needed when Francis Ingham passed away. She played an instrumental part in PRCA’s governance review, and we owe her a debt of gratitude.”
