LONDON — Simon Redfern, the EMEA head of communications at Salesforce, has joined Google in the newly-created role of director of public affairs for Europe.

The move reunites Redfern with Google global communications and public affairs VP Corey DuBrowa, who was his boss at both Starbucks and Salesforce.

Former Pagefield partner Redfern was Starbucks’ UK and then EMEA corporate affairs chief from 2013 to 2018, while DuBrowa was SVP of global communications for seven years until becoming Salesforce CCO in 2017. Redfern moved to Salesforce last spring, shortly before DuBrowa left to join Google.

Redfern does not report to DuBrowa in his new role, which is part of a new public policy team within Google.

During his time at Salesforce, Redfern ran a hotly-contested PR review that resulted in Harvard being chosen as the cloud computing giant’s agency for UK public relations and EMEA corporate communications.
