LONDON — High-end pre-prepared meal brand Charlie Bigham’s has appointed Sunny Side Up as its retained UK PR and communications agency, after a competitive pitch.

Charlie Bigham’s was founded in 1996 and is now stocked across most major supermarkets in the UK, with more than 60 different meals, side dishes and desserts in its range.

The scope of Sunny Side Up’s work includes corporate and trade communications, consumer media relations and influencer communications, as well as working with the brand’s other marketing agencies as part of an integrated team. Charlie Bigham’s previously worked with Sauce Communications.

Agency MD Zoe Ward-Waring will lead the account, alongside strategy and creative director Nick Woods, reporting into Charlie Bigham’s marketing director Gill Green and marketing manager Kirstie Hawkins.

Green said: “Charlie Bigham’s is a much-loved brand with millions of regular buyers, and we have aggressive growth plans for the next few years. From our first meetings with Nick, Zoe and their whole team we have been impressed; their understanding of our brand and our audience is great, the creative opportunities they see for us are brilliant and it doesn’t hurt that they are so obviously passionate about our brand and proposition.”

Ward-Waring added: “Like everyone else in the country, we’ve long admired the Charlie Bigham’s brand, as well as being voracious buyers of his delicious meals. The whole agency is delighted to be able to help a fellow B Corp achieve even greater things.”

Sunny Side Up’s food and drink roster already includes New Zealand win brand Villa Maria, English sparkling wine brand Ridgeview, premium honey brand RAK Honey and direct-to-consumer artisan cheese specialist, Cheesegeek. The agency became a B Corp last year.
