NEW YORK – Finn Partners has acquired technology agency Barokas Communications, which has offices in Seattle and Denver and specialises in early stage, emerging and high growth technology companies.

As part of the deal, founder Howie Barokas (pictured, right) and CEO Karli Barokas (left) will join Finn as managing partners and become part of the agency’s global technology practice leadership team. The practice now has a team of around 200 globally and last year had revenue of more than $30 million, working with clients including Honeywell and Blackmore.

The acquisition is the latest in a series of moves to expand the size and global reach of the firm. Earlier this month, Finn bought Atlanta-based health IT specialist Ten22, and in April, the agency purchased digital marketing agency MintTwist – its fifth acquisition in London in the past four years.

Finn Partners founding managing partner and CEO Peter Finn told PRovoke Media: “Barokas has carved out a strong niche driving growth for early stage and emerging tech companies. They’ve worked with an impressive roster of clients, including Ibotta, magniX, Pokemon and Techstars, and their expertise is the perfect complement to Finn’s growing global tech capabilities.”

He said: “Finn’s technology practice is one of our firm’s largest practices, with a broad portfolio of clients ranging from enterprise and consumer technology giants to mid-sized companies and innovative start-ups. The addition of Barokas will especially enable us to expand our expertise with earlier stage companies, which has always been a high growth, high opportunity sector.”

Finn added that the acquisition would help the agency capitalize on economic growth in the Western region: “We’ve long wanted to be in the high-growth markets of Seattle and Denver; it was just a matter of finding the right partner.”

Karli Barokas said: “From our first meeting we felt a strong synergy with Finn’s independent spirit and core value of taking risks – two principles which have always been at the heart of our agency. Companies in Seattle and Denver now have a new option for a global powerhouse PR partner that can support brands across all stages of growth with fully integrated PR, marketing, digital and creative services.”
