Kaplan became the FT's first head of audience engagement in 2015, as part of a tangible investment on the part of the media company to grow the reach and impact of its journalism. Kaplan and her team sit within the FT newsroom, working closing with many aspects of the organisation — including editorial; graphics and interactive; product; marketing and communications; and, events — reflecting the blurring of boundaries that underpins modern content marketing. Indeed Kaplan brings to her role an understanding of the critical drivers of audience engagement, including social media, data analysis, marketing and SEO, having previously worked as chief content officer at Havas in Paris. Her agency stint came after senior editorial roles at France 24, CNN and CBS.
