Lulu Cheng Meservey

EVP Corporate Affairs & Chief Communications Officer
Activision Blizzard
US

In October 2022, Activision Blizzard hired Lulu Cheng Meservey as its first comms and corporate affairs leader ahead of Microsoft’s proposed acquisition of the gaming company. Having sat on Activision’s board, Meservey was well-versed in what she was getting into signing on with the company, whose properties include Call of Duty and Candy Crush. Activision was already grappling with issues including regulatory challenges to its $69 billion deal with Microsoft and high-profile allegations of workplace misconduct, including sexual harassment.

Less than a year later, Meservey has shown her value in the role, emerging as the public voice of Activision using platforms like Twitter to distill the complexities of the Microsoft acquisition, which, as potentially the largest gaming acquisition ever, is still under the scrutiny of governmental regulators, most notably in the UK. Meservey has also doubled down on regaining employee trust through workplace improvements such as a weekly companywide memo on pertinent news and its inaugural transparency report targeting stakeholders, the press and the public. All of which underpins Meservey’s efforts to build a comms team whose communications are direct, transparent and honest.

Before joining Activision, Meservey was with Substack, where she served as VP of communications. Before that, Meservey was president and chief operating officer of the agency she co-founded, TrailRunner International.
