Communications director
The White House

Jen Psaki, former spokeswoman for the State Department and a veteran of President Obama’s various political campaigns, stepped up to become the White House communications director earlier this year, replacing Jennifer Palmieri who left to lead communications for Hillary Clinton’s fledgling presidential campaign. Psaki had previously spent two years leading communications for Secretary of State John Kerry, following a stint as deputy communications director in the White House, and as a spokeswoman for the president’s 2008 election campaign and press secretary for his bid for a second term. Psaki began her career in 2001 working on re-election campaigns of Iowa Democrats Tom Harkin and Tom Vilsack and went on to serve as deputy press secretary for John Kerry's 2004 presidential campaign. She also served as communications director to US Representative Joseph Crowley and regional press secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
