While some might balk at overseeing one of the UK’s most challenging PR assignments, Jane Lawrie’s pedigree as one of Europe’s most experienced corporate communicators is likely to stand her in good stead at Tesco, which she joined in late 2016. Prior to that, Lawrie spent several years at in senior communications roles at Coca-Cola, Diageo and Boots.
Lawrie’s ability to handle complex issues across diverse markets will prove pivotal at a company that has become somewhat synonymous with corporate misbehaviour. Tesco CEO Dave Lewis has spoken publicly of "the need to begin the long journey back to building trust and transparency into our business and brand." It is down to Lawrie to deliver on that daunting vision.
